The organisers of the hi-tech developers event, The Embedded Masterclass 2010 have announced that over 130 engineers have so far registered to attend this year's two-day event. The Embedded Masterclass is to be held near Cambridge on the 6th May and then again in Reading on the 11th May. www.embedded-masterclass.com
"The response from engineers has been very positive this year, many are engineers that have attended previous years' events," said Richard Blackburn, event organiser. "The half-day technology workshops are proving particularly popular. They have gained a strong reputation for being very informative and very good value for money."
This year’s event includes an agenda of technical presentations relating to the development of microprocessor based systems, a vendor tabletop exhibition and 5 half-day technical workshops. The workshops span subjects such as an Introduction to Embedded Linux, Developing Time-Triggered Systems, Developing Symmetrical Multi-Processing Systems, Developing Device Drivers and Advanced Debugging Techniques.
Exhibiting vendors include Phaedrus Systems, Feabhas, Pebble Bay and Blue Chip Technology from the UK, Lauterbach from Germany, IAR Systems and Enea from Sweden, Wind River, Green Hills Software and Monta Vista from the USA and a number of other global vendors of tools and software for embedded systems. Over 30 vendors have chosen to sponsor and exhibit at this year's event.
"This event is mostly a non-sales forum where engineers can explore and learn about new technologies," said Richard. "It's now in it's 10th year and has grown with each event. This year we have more vendors sponsoring and exhibiting and we are on track to have more engineers attending than ever before. We have also persuaded the presenters to use a whiteboard instead of Power Point. A brave move, but we really wanted to break away from 'endless bullet points' and move to a more interactive style of presentation. The general reaction has been positive from both the presenters and the engineering community."
The event is run in two locations, to minimise travel time for engineers wishing to attend. Lunch and refreshments are also provided, funded by sponsorship money from the exhibiting vendors. Attendance at the event, including the series of technical presentations, is 'free' to engineers and technology managers, although there is a small charge for access to the half-day workshops.
"A day at the Embedded Masterclass is usually relaxing and fun," said Richard. "We also ask the vendors to send their engineers along, so that delegates can engage in detailed technical discussions and have worthwhile demonstrations of the new technology. Our objective is always to ensure that delegates leave the event feeling that they have had a worthwhile and productive day. The feedback is always very positive, from both vendors and engineers."
Engineers are advised to register early, as space at the event is limited. Registration is on-line at: www.embedded-masterclass.com, or drop an email to richard@energi-tech.co.uk |
