Organisers of the Embedded Masterclass, a major UK embedded systems engineering event, have announced that bookings for their half-day technology workshops are on track to be double that of last year. This year's workshops cover such topics as Embedded Linux, Device Driver Development, Advance Debugging, SMP Development and Time Triggered Systems. In addition to the workshops the event hosts a vendor exhibition and an agenda of free technical presentations.
The Embedded Masterclass takes place near Cambridge 6th May and in Reading 11th May. This event is free to engineers and technical managers. www.embedded-masterclass.com
"The response has been amazing," said Richard Blackburn, the Organiser. "We started the workshops as a bit of an add-on, but now the majority of the engineers visiting the event are simply coming along to attend one or more of the workshops. We started running these a couple of years ago and they have quickly gained a reputation for being very informative and productive. The Device Driver Development workshop is now close to being sold out, and it's still early days in many respects."
A hi-tech industry expert, with proven hands-on experience, presents each workshop at the event. The objective of each workshop is to introduce engineers to a new technology, explaining the benefits, the limitations and the challenges. Several of the workshops also provide hands-on experience, so that developers can get a real feel for the technology.
"These workshops are really a chance for engineers to explore a technology that they have been considering and to quiz an expert," said Richard Blackburn. "They have proven to be a valuable opportunity to accelerate learning and to help engineers fully understand the consequences of a technology before committing time and money. At £95+VAT, many engineers regard these workshops as very good value for money."
Over 30 industry vendors have sponsored this year's event. Companies include Lauterbach, LDRA, IAR Systems, Phaedrus Systems, SDC Systems, Wind River, Green Hills Software, LDRA, MontaVista, QNX, Blue Chip Technology, IPL and Enea.
In addition to six half-day technical workshops, Embedded Masterclass includes a schedule of eight 40-minute technical presentations on assorted topics, and a vendor exhibition. Attendance at the exhibition, including the series of 40-minute technical presentations, is free to embedded engineers and technology managers. The half-day workshops are £95.00+VAT. Engineers are advised to register early, as space at the event is limited. Registration is on-line at www.embedded-masterclass.com
