'A Guide to Selling and Marketing Technology' is the title of a half-day workshop to be held at this year's hi-tech developers conference, The Embedded Masterclass 2010, to be held 6th May and 11th May in Cambridge and Reading respectively. This workshop will be an introduction to the concepts of effective 'marketing and selling' technology for engineers who wish to gain more of an understanding of Sales and Marketing and for Sales and Marketing professionals who wish to understand more about selling technology. http://www.embedded-masterclass.com/sales-training-for-engineers.htm
"In many ways it's a crash course on the 'do's and don't' when it comes to technology," said Richard Blackburn, the presenter. "Marketing and Selling is not rocket science, but it really is so often misunderstood. What's more - how well it is understood is usually the difference between commercial success or failure, regardless of the capability and promise of a technology."
The 1/2 day workshop will start by discussing the meaning of 'brand' and why it is as relevant to a technology as it is to a chocolate bar. It will also discuss how to build a brand and why it is so important to do this. The workshop will explore what are the best current marketing activities for engineering and technology companies and what pitfalls should be avoided. It will discuss if Google is the only solution ? Do adverts really work ? How about Social Networking ? and many more facets of modern marketing.
"One reason why technology companies sometimes struggle with their sales is because they approach most sales challenges by thinking that they need to redesign the product to be faster or smaller, or to have more features, or to use less power or simply be cheaper," said Richard. "Engineers live in a tangible world, whereas a brand only ever exists in the mind. This workshop is about selling the technology you have today and what it really takes to win business and maximise profits."
Over 30 industry vendors have sponsored this year's Embedded Masterclass event. Companies include Lauterbach, LDRA, IAR Systems, Phaedrus Systems, SDC Systems, Wind River, Green Hills Software, LDRA, MontaVista, QNX and Enea. In addition to the workshops, the event offers a schedule of short technical presentations and a vendor exhibition. At this year's event, presenters have been asked to abandon Power Point in favour of a whiteboard, flip chart and hand-outs. The organisers are hoping that this will make the presentations more dynamic and ensure the presenters are well prepared. Attendance at the exhibition, including the series of 40-minute technical presentations, is free to embedded and electronic engineers and technology managers. The half-day workshops are £95.00 + VAT. |
