The UK Embedded Masterclass has become a key event for engineers that develop hi-tech products and work with microprocessor based systems. This annual event enables technology vendors to share their latest technology and tools with European engineers from a wide range of industries. The use of the Linux operating system within hi-tech systems has become a hot-topic for engineers and this workshop promises to explain how best to implement Linux as well as the advantages and limitations.
"It's been a very popular workshop," said Richard Blackburn, the organiser. "We've decided to run it a third time simply because we ran out of space during previous events and we know there are some engineers who are still keen to attend. The feedback on this course has been excellent. Some engineers walk away excited to start working with Linux, others walk away realising that it's not a good fit for their project. Either way, both groups tell us that they are pleased they went on the course, it's well presented and what a good investment of their time it was."
The Embedded Masterclass will be running four half-day workshops including the Embedded Linux one this year, covering such topics as 'symmetrical multi-processing' and 'time-triggered software development'. Each workshop costs £95+vat and includes lunch and refreshments. In addition to the workshops, the event is hosting a vendor’s exhibition and an agenda of technical presentations from many of the world's leading embedded systems tools and technology vendors.
"Our objective is always to create a day that European embedded engineers will find interesting and productive," stated Richard Blackburn. "It's their chance to learn about new technologies, meet engineers working at the leading edge, develop new skills and maybe find solutions to current challenges. The feedback from both the vendors and the engineers has always been very positive. Also, we ask the vendors to send their engineers, rather than sales people - this way delegates can engage in a higher level of technical discussion."
Feabhas Ltd will present the Embedded Linux workshop; a UK based training and services company specialising in the field of real-time embedded development, Feabhas offer a wide portfolio of training courses, delivered on-site or as public courses, as well as service packages for process improvement and best engineering practices. With clients from all areas of the electronics industry, Feabhas consultants have a wealth of embedded software development expertise. Their core specialisations are C, C++, Java, Linux, UML and SysML.
"We really value being involved in the Embedded Masterclass event," said Niall Cooling, Managing Director of Feabhas Ltd. "It is always well organised, focused and offers a productive day for engineers. The Embedded Linux workshop is an ideal fit for this event, as Linux in the embedded environment is still an emerging and changing technology. We work with Linux all year round, this workshop gives us a chance to share what we have learnt and the current state of this technology."
The Embedded Masterclass will take place near Cambridge on 6th May and near Reading on 11th May. The event is free to embedded engineers and technology managers, although there is a charge for the half-day workshops. Engineers are advised to register early, as places at both venues are limited.
