|
Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing has announced support for the new Xilinx® Virtex®-6 FPGAs and targeted design platforms via its family of high sampling rate, high bandwidth FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC/VITA 57) modules. These include the new ADC512, a 3GS/s 8-bit, dual channel analog-to-digital converter (ADC) card, and new quad channel ADC513, a 1.5 GS/s 8-bit, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) card, able to support up to 1,500MS/s data throughput per channel. These new FMC cards eliminate data bottlenecks by supporting bandwidths in excess of 6B/s with direct low latency connections to host FPGAs such as a Virtex-6. This helps system designers optimize and increase DSP subsystem performance.
|

Curtiss-Wright Controls Announces New Board Level
FMC (FPGA Mezzanine Card) Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) Mezzanine Cards Support New Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGAs

High Wycombe, UK – June 24, 2009 -- Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing, a leading designer and manufacturer of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) VME, VPX, VXS, and CompactPCI products for the aerospace and defense (A&D) market, today announced support for the new Xilinx® Virtex®-6 FPGAs and targeted design platforms via its family of high sampling rate, high bandwidth FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC/VITA 57) modules.

The Curtiss-Wright Controls FMC cards enable system designers to optimize the performance of Virtex-6-based digital signal processing (DSP) subsystems. The high-speed ADC I/O are routed directly to the Virtex-6 FPGAs on the host board via the FMC connector to eliminate data bottlenecks and increase performance.

“Our new high-bandwidth ADC512 and ADC513 FMC modules deliver dedicated I/O for advanced FPGAs and enables system developers to take full advantage of Xilinx´s next generation Virtex-6 FPGAs and targeted design platforms,” said Lynn Patterson, vice president and general manager of Modular Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. “Our growing family of FMC FPGA I/O mezzanine cards significantly speeds and simplifies the use of FPGAs in rugged deployed embedded applications.”

“The integration of industry-standard FMC modules is a key element of Xilinx´s targeted design platform strategy, and allows us to go to market with a simplified offering of base boards and daughter-card extensions for our Virtex-6 base platform,” said Raj Seelam, senior marketing manager of Platform Solutions at Xilinx. “Curtiss-Wright Controls has fully embraced this approach, and their support of Virtex-6 FPGAs with the new ADC512 and ADC513 FMC modules ensures that our mutual customers can meet the performance requirements of the most demanding embedded and DSP applications.”

Available in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled rugged versions, the ADC512 and ADC513 are designed for use in demanding reconfigurable computing applications, such as direct RF down-conversion, SigInt/Surveillance, Satellite communications and SDR. They speed and simplify the integration of FPGAs into rugged deployed embedded system designs.

About FMC (VITA 57)
FMC modules enable I/O devices that reside on an industry standard (VITA 57) mezzanine card to be attached to, and directly controlled by FPGAs that reside on a host board. About half the size of a PMC module, FMCs provide a small footprint, reduced I/O bottleneck, increased flexibility, and reduced cost through the elimination of redundant interfaces. To maximize data throughput and minimize latency, the FMC connector provides numerous I/O pins that support high-speed signals for moving data between the FMC and the FPGA.

About Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing
Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing is the industry´s most comprehensive and experienced single source for embedded solutions, ranging from Processing, Subsystems, Data Communication, DSP, and Video & Graphics to the most advanced board level components and fully integrated custom systems.
