Vicor Expands Maxi, Mini and Micro Family of DC-DC Converters with New 72 V Input Series
Key points:
• New models meet the voltage, shock, vibration and temperature requirements of EN50155
• All modules can be configured for custom-designs using PowerBench™
• RoHS compliant models available
The Brick Business Unit of Vicor Corporation announces the addition of a new 72 V input series for the Maxi, Mini and Micro family of DC-DC converters. The new 72 V input series greatly expands Vicor´s product offering for the railway and transportation segment, which values product robustness and reliability.
It consists of 27 new models including nine standard output voltages (3.3, 5, 8, 12, 15, 24, 28, 36, and 48 V) in combination with three package sizes (quarter, half, and full brick) with output power ranging from 75 W up to 400 W depending on the model.
These models meet the operating voltage requirements for EN50155, the key standard for railway applications, as well as EN50155 requirements for shock, vibration, and temperature. The product platform simplifies thermal management and mounting for designers with a proven baseplate design, and the encapsulated circuitry provides robustness for shock, vibration and humidity often found in these applications. They are available in five different environmental grades, with six different pin options and three baseplate options. They can also be configured in any combination using Vicor PowerBench™ tools that allow a customer to configure an infinite array of custom module designs on-line, and verify them in real time, at www.vicorpower.com.
The modules, which are optionally available in RoHS compliant models, have the following dimensions: the Maxi is 4.6 x 2.2 x 0.5in. (117 x 56 x 12.7 mm); the Mini is 2.28 x 2.2 x 0.5 in (57.9 x 55.9 x 12.7 mm), and the Micro is 2.28 x 1.45 x 0.5 in. (57.9 x 36.8 x 12.7 mm).
Vicor
Vicor offers tens of thousands of standard and custom high-performance power conversion components to customers worldwide, with very short development and delivery cycles. Vicor's PowerBenchTM suite of on-line tools allows users to design customised brick or configurable power supplies to exact specifications in minutes. The company's innovative Modular components are used in the communications, data processing, industrial control, test equipment, medical and defence electronics markets.
