Dave Mellor has joined Optima EPS Tucker, GA) to relaunch the specialist cabinet and enclosure business, and spearhead further investment by the new parent company, Elma Electronic. Mellor takes on the role of General Manager having set-up Elma Electronic UK in 2000, and built it to a revenue of $5m in four years.
"Elma has the financial strength and market commitment to put Optima back on the map", commented Mellor, "We have exciting plans to invest in the people, infrastructure and product development needed to more than double revenue in the next two years."
Mellor brings 16 years of experience in the subcontract electronics market for PCB assemblies and man-machine interfaces, working for companies such as ITW and ITT, as well as Elma, enabling him to appreciate the value of Optima's flexible customization capabilities for major customers and project engineers on tight schedules.
As well as new products such as the recent Seismic Cabinet announcement, a key element of the relaunch is improved customer Access to product and customization information, including a revamped website at www.optimaeps.com, which will be further improved over the next 3 – 6 months.
Recent large orders include $2m of enclosures from a major electrical contractor, contributing to quarter-on-quarter order growth of 30%. Joint proposals for key contracts indicate solid support from major customers in research, defense and telecom/computing sectors.
