STARGEN Appoints Corporate Controller
Maria Ottaviano to Head Company´s Finance and Accounting Operations
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – July 27, 2004 – StarGen, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in advanced serial switched interconnect solutions, today announced that
Maria Ottaviano has been hired as the company´s corporate controller. In this position, Ottaviano will lead the finance and accounting operations at StarGen.
Ms. Ottaviano brings more than 20 years of extensive finance experience with high technology companies, including Cisco and Arrowpoint Communications, to StarGen. Ottaviano most recently served as controller for Fabric Networks, where she was responsible for the company´s finance and administration. Prior to Fabric Networks, Ottaviano held key positions in corporate finance and other functional areas within finance, such as business planning and analysis, sales and marketing, R&D project management, cost accounting, and acquisition analysis, at Cereva Networks, SpecTran and Polaroid. Ottaviano holds an MBA from Suffolk University.
“We are pleased to have Maria on board to lead our finance and accounting operations,” said Tim Miller, CEO of StarGen. “Her strong background and relevant experience in business planning and analysis enables her to contribute strategically to our ongoing success and growth.”
The hiring of Ottaviano follows the recent announcement of StarGen´s $8.5 million in fourth round funding provided by Commonwealth Capital Ventures, Eastward Capital Partners, Intel Capital, Ironside Ventures, Morgenthaler Ventures and Vesbridge Partners LLC. StarGen is using the investment to finance the development and marketing of Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI) products. StarGen completed a $16.3 million Series C in 2003, and raised $26 million in previous rounds.
StarFabric-based products are currently being designed into a wide range of market segments including medical imaging, video serving, semiconductor testing, communication routers and switches, military command and control, and storage equipment. StarGen is currently developing StarXpress, a new family of products that incorporates PCI Express and Advanced Switching Interconnect (ASI) technology.
