9th - 11th October 2001. Messe Stuttgart International, Germany, will play host to the only European embedded event focused on delivering a top quality conference programme together with an exhibit floor to demonstrate the most innovative products in the embedded arena. The schedule of classes, while delivering the very best in expert points of view and detailed tutorials, has this year been carefully planned to allow delegates more `free´ time on the exhibition floor. Another new feature for 2001 is the `early bird´ breakfast session on Wednesday and Thursday morning, providing the perfect opportunity for experts to discuss topics in an informal environment.
Delegates can also attend the lively panel session on Thursday, titled `Hard cores Soft cores, What cores - the designer´s dilemma.´ Top experts to debate on the subject will be Kevin Kissell, Senior Architect at MIPS Technologies, Jim Turley, ARC´s VP of Technology Strategy, Jean-Marie Rolland Chief Operating Officer of SuperH, Mat Newman, Senior VP of Technology at Celoxica and Jim Tully, Chairman of Data Quest.
Sure to prick a few ears in the industry, new subjects in the programme include wireless and Internet connectivity, Java programming, C and C++, UML and Automotive design. The first day will consist of tutorials on areas such as Real-Time Unified Modelling Language, System Design and TCP/IP Networking. Alongside the exhibition, the last two days will hold classes on hot topics like Verilog HDL, Bluetooth technology, RTOS and UI for 3G Mobile terminals, and OSEK OS/OSEKtime.
This year will also see a stream of 6 classes held in German, including `Implementing and testing Real-Time functions, USB in Industrial Measurement and Control Applications, and Using the LIN Bus in Automotive/Embedded Applications.
Commenting on the event, Michele Hams, Director of the European Embedded Group for CMP Electronics said, "We´re very excited about this year´s programme. Last year delegates told us that they enjoyed the technical quality of the conference but wanted more time to visit exhibitors and more ways to interact with speakers and other delegates. The re-structured programme incorporating the panel session and breakfast discussions is in direct response to those comments. The 36% increase in the amount of free time also enables delegates access to the exhibit floor without compromising on their opportunity to enhance their skills with education. Also the floor will open earlier this year, at 9am. Messe Stuttgart International will offer the event the perfect combination of excellent accessibility from around Europe and a local market hungry for embedded information."
Visitors will be able to view the latest innovations from major industry players such as Microsoft, Green Hills, Atmel, Toshiba, and Ericsson. ESC Europe brings engineers from across Europe together with leading industry experts and with vendors of development tools, semiconductors, and services for embedded design from around the world.
