| Santa Clara, CA - May 4, 1998 - Aisys Inc., a provider of automation tools for high-end embedded system design, today announced the appointment of Harry Alexander as vice president of sales.
Alexander has more than 20 years experience in the computer industry in sales, engineering and sales management positions. He was most recently regional sales manager for Wind River Systems and has also held positions with Harris Computer Systems and Concurrent Computer Systems.
"We are pleased to welcome Harry to the Aisys team," says Shaul Gal-Oz, president and CEO of Aisys. "His knowledge of the embedded systems industry and understanding of the many challenges designers face in this environment make him a valuable asset to Aisys as well as to our customers."
Gal-Oz says Alexander will focus his efforts on the high-end (32-bit) market, where Aisys' DriveWayT tools can have the greatest impact on design productivity.
"Our goal is to reduce the embedded system design cycle from 12 months to 30 days," says Gal-Oz. "Toward this end, activities over the next year will center not only on the end user but also on developing agreements with tool vendors and chip manufacturers to make DriveWay more widely available."
As microprocessors become more complex, system design becomes more difficult and development times increase. "DriveWay provides the much-needed automation capabilities that will dramatically reduce development time," explains Gal-Oz. "By automating time-consuming and error-prone tasks that do not add value to the end product, DriveWay frees the designer to focus on increasing product functionality, improving quality and meeting tight time-to-market windows."
Alexander says that he became aware of DriveWay while at Wind River. "I was impressed with what I saw of the product and our applications people rated the tool very highly," he says. "What really convinced me to take the position with Aisys was the opportunity of using my expertise to help the company achieve its goal of substantially reducing development time. As the embedded systems market grows and systems become more complex, design automation will be the key to success. Aisys is leading the way in this effort and, I believe, will have a significant impact on embedded system design."
Alexander says he is currently interviewing to build the sales and support team so that Aisys can meet the demand for DriveWay products.
ABOUT AISYS Aisys Inc. develops and markets design automation tools that significantly reduce the development time for embedded systems. Its DriveWay 3DET(device driver design environment) technology enables designers to quickly and reliably design and implement peripheral device drivers and integrate the system's hardware and software without requiring a detailed knowledge of the silicon. DriveWay generates a set of fully tested and documented drivers, boot code and test code tailored to specific compilers and RTOSs. With DriveWay, the arduous task of writing and testing the integration code, typically a three- to six-month process, can be completed in one week.
