| Strong growth assured
SACO, a Montreal-based company, is the worldwide leader in large video screen technology using light emitting diode (LED) technology. This revolutionary technology can create 16.7 million colours and is lighter, cheaper, and more energy efficient than the conventional cathode ray tube (CRT) technology. "We have chosen SACO because the quality of its screen images is far superior to that of any other product on the market," notes Mr. Abe Polin, CEO of MCI Washington Sport Centre.
SACO has produced the world's largest video screen (50 feet by 150 feet), being used by U2 on its present tour, and has recently obtained some important contracts, such as for production of the two largest video screens of the National Football League stadiums. In light of SACO's strategic positioning, as well as the strong demand for its products, it is certain that strong growth of the company will ensue. For the 1997 fiscal year SACO's sales will be approximately $23 million, with a net profit in the order of $3.8 million. "This acquisition is an important milestone for Teknor. 1998 consolidated sales will increase to approximately $100 million, generating a minimum net profit of approximately $8 million ($0.50 per share) which may reach $12 million ($0.75 per share), pending negotiations now in progress," notes Mr. Michel Gareau, President and CEO of Teknor.
"Our new partner represents a certain advantage for us. The Company`s strength in R&D will allow us to develop new products and to reinforce our technological leadership position. None of our competitors are backed by such a team of engineers specialized in industrial computers," adds Mr. Fred Jalbout, President of SACO SmartVision.
SACO Controls designs and manufactures industrial control systems and panels used in nuclear and hydroelectric powerstations, as well as in major train stations. SmartVision technology, one-of-a-kind worldwide, confers the Company a major advantage over its competition.
