| dSPACE presents its new version of the user interface COCKPIT for the Alpha Board. It is especially designed to support hardware-in-the-loop simulation and rapid prototyping, which need extremely powerful processors for realization. COCKPIT for Alpha facilitates the control and optimization of real-time experiments running on the Alpha AXP 21164 processor by DEC, which is integrated in dSPACE's hardware system. This new Version is constructed as a multiprocessor program because the Alpha board functions only when connected to a DSP-C40 processor board. If required, additional DSPs can be linked easily to enhance the system performance. Quality and user commodities reach the same high dSPACE-standard as found in previous versions. The enhanced editing mode eases the building of layouts and a large range of different instruments is available from a library.
The control editor includes features common to standard graphics editors, such as the positioning of a user chosen variety of elements as a group.
The mode RUNTIME COCKPIT is meant to establish a control platform for test rigs. It is purely an animation tool without editor functions, enabling the designed interface to be utilized by non-expert users.
